Ascend Learning is headquartered in Burlington, MA, with additional office locations and remote workers in cities across the U.S. and in the U.K. Job Overview This position is primarily responsible for leading the monthly accounting close and financial analysis for multiple Ascend business units. This role also supports continuous internal control evaluation and review, preparation of audit requests, acquisition integration and special projects. Responsibilities & Duties Perform the month-end close duties for one to two business units, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, expense accruals, financial statement analytics, month-end reporting packages and balance sheet and profit and loss variance analysis. Lead the work of one to three accountants by providing oversight of daily activities and month end close processes for multiples business units. This includes primary level review responsibilities of journal entries, balance sheet and profit and loss variance analysis and account reconciliations. Review, evaluate and assist with the implementation and/or improvement of internal controls Assist with the preparation of requested schedules for the annual financial statement audit Assist in the documentation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and processes Assist with the integration of acquired businesses as necessary Respond to ad hoc data or reporting requests Support special projects as needed Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's preferred; CPA required Minimum of five years relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred Strong working knowledge of GAAP Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with Great Plains and Management Reporter is preferred Skills & Abilities Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills Process improvement mindset Organized and self-directed with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Proven track record of increased job responsibilities and expanded roles Commitment to the highest standards of honesty and integrity Outstanding interpersonal skills and an excellent written and verbal communicator Other Requirements Occasional travel may be required.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
AccountingEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
