The role you'll contribute:
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician performs all accountabilities associated with the compounding, dispensing, charging, and delivery of medications to the patients.

o Treating co-workers, patients, physicians and guests with kindness, care and courtesy o Attendance pattern reflect commitment to job requirements and patient care needs o Communicate with pharmacists and other technicians in an open, cordial manner so that information related to department operations is freely exchanged o Complete assigned duties completely so co-workers are not burdened with additional responsibilities o Performs functions requested by pharmacist or pharmacy leadership in a timely manner o Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information o Verbally and behaviorally support Shawnee Mission Medical Centers' mission and values o Demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the Medical Center o Resolve Pyxis generated stock out bulletins and medications not loaded reports quickly o Compound medications accurately as needed o Maintain a high level of accuracy and accountability in all controlled substance transactions o Conduct self with the same high standard of conduct regardless of the level of supervision on the shift o Anticipate and address the needs of the customer o Incorporate patient, physician, and customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action o Answer phones in a prompt courteous manner o Accurately fill and outdate all Pyxis machines as scheduled with the runs.
o Fill and deliver medications to patient care areas without delay o Restock boxes, kits, trays and code cart trays without being asked o Make positive contributions to the departments Interdepartmental Customer Satisfaction scores o Complete deliveries and refill functions as quickly as possible to minimize time spent out of department o Proficiently practice aseptic technique o Answer telephone, using experience and/or prioritization skills to forward calls when appropriate o Display pride in work o Identify work flow or process improvement opportunities to department leadership o Assess par levels and notify department leadership and buyer of need to increase these to resolve chronic stock out situations, fill replenishment stock, deliver and load all medication located in Pyxis Medstations and in the department o Perform tasks related to maintaining all centralized and decentralized pharmacy inventory.
This includes but is not limited to:
Assessing par levels, restocking shelves, ordering supplies and alerting buyer to stock shortages o Make and deliver products so they arrive at the unit on time, but not so early as to promote waste o Replenish drugs used during surgery and code blue carts and complete appropriate charge sheet.

o High School Diploma or Equivalent EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
