Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Art Program Coordinator in their Employment Supports division.
JCDS serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We focus on individuals' abilities, provide choice driven supports, and advocate alongside people to live and work in our community.

Responsibilities include:
Coordinates professional art instruction for emerging artists, through volunteers, community/regional artists or formal classes.
Trains volunteers and artists on effective methods for communication with individuals receiving services, according to their individual needs.
Provides orientation to staff, volunteers, and artists on art supplies and use of adaptive equipment.
Encourages emerging artists to increase their independence by participating in the process of creating and selling their art.
Provides direct supervision and instruction to individuals receiving services at JCDS who participate in the Art Program.
Communicates with Direct Support Professionals and other members of the person's support team regarding individual progress, as well as any specific concerns or challenges that may arise.
Implements any specific positive behavior supports that are required for individual participants, as well as any preventative or reactive interventions that may be in place as part of a formal behavior support plan.
Promotes positive relationships with contacts, including the people receiving services, co-workers and outside business partners.
Conducts presentations about the Art Program in order to increase awareness and promote the value of including art as a viable employment option for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Develops contacts for partnerships, funding, promotion, advertising, and other functions to support programs and special events.
Engages in an array of sales and marketing activities with the goal of maximizing the potential earnings of emerging artists and increasing their inclusion in the community through collaboration with professional artists.
Increases participation in local art shows and other events by making personal contacts with people involved in the local art community, participates in business networking opportunities, creates or assists with designing marketing materials and contacts local businesses who may be interested in selling art and art products.
Generates new ideas by facilitating an Art Committee comprised of JCDS employees and community members, that meets to discuss the progress of the program and potential strategies to generate more sales and community interest in the program.
Organizes, inventories and stocks the program area with sufficient supplies, materials, and functional equipment.
Ensures that individuals are paid correctly for their art by working closely with the Direct Support Professionals who are responsible for entering wage information into the pay system.
Periodically monitors client pay for art by reviewing pay information provided by the business office.
Gathers and summarizes data related to the number of individuals who participate in the program, their earnings, program expenses and revenue and any other information that may be requested.
Creates status reports on budget, art sales, activities, contacts, and events.
Provides direct support to other teams within Day and Employment Services, when staffing levels reach a critical point.
Direct support activities include job coaching, small group instruction, personal care assistance and behavior support.
Engages in special projects and activities that relate to social relationships and personal growth, such as facilitating a Grief Support Group for individuals receiving services who have experienced a loss.
Job Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled (I/DD) individuals and one (1) year of communications, marketing, sales, or customer service experience required.
A valid driver's license and good driving record are also required.
Experience can substitute for education and education can substitute for experience.
Candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
