The University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (KU ADRC) is seeking a full-time neurologist to join our growing team. The successful candidate with sub-specialty interest in cognitive neurology will join a fast-growing integrated ADRC team and be responsible for diagnosing and managing patients in our tertiary referral Memory Care Clinic.
Neurological subspecialty training in cognitive disorders is preferred, or the candidate must have an interest in developing expertise in the diagnosis and management of cognitive disorders.
The KU ADRC is a National Institute of Aging -designated center, one of only 33 in the country, and a national leader in AD research, education, and care. Our vision is to impact the lives of every patient and family dealing with Alzheimer's in the region and across the state of Kansas. We are a comprehensive center at the forefront of clinical trials, lifestyle intervention trials, drug and translational research, and basic science research. Our research enables us to also provide leading-edge clinical care and support for dementia caregivers. In addition, we provide a wide variety of both public education and training opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow.
The successful candidate will also have the potential to participate in and lead patient care, education, and research initiatives of the ADRC. Optional opportunities include leading industry-sponsored drug trials for Alzheimer's disease treatments or developing investigator-initiated Alzheimer's disease studies in collaboration with nationally prominent programs such as the Frontiers Clinical and Translational Science.
About the Position:

  • Assess and diagnose patients in the KU Memory Care Clinic.
  • Attend on the neurology inpatient unit, consult or stroke service.
  • Supervise neurology residents. This will include supervision of residents in the hospital wards and in the general neurology clinic.
  • Opportunity to serve as the PI for industry sponsored clinical trials in the KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, develop independent research projects and publish scholarly publications from these efforts.
  • Teaching and Research opportunities.
  • Faculty appointment available.
  • Primarily outpatient cognitive neurology practice with minimal inpatient consult/call responsibilities.
  • 80% subspecialized dementia and cognitive neurology volume available.
  • Collaborative with robust geriatrics program and memory clinic.

Required Qualifications
MD/DO
Board certified/eligible in Neurology
Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a fellowship program in cognitive behavioral neurology or geriatric psychiatry
