Job Duties:
The CENTRAL SUPPLY CLERK ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available for the nursing department in order to reach optimal resident care at the best pricing in accordance with all laws, regulations, and LCCA standards. Reports to Director of Nursing.
Specific Skill Requirements and Essential Job Functions:
Must be reliable Must be dependable Must be able to work independently Must be knowledgeable of central supply practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing central supply functions in the long-term care facility Must work harmoniously with other staff Must minimize waste of supplies and misuse of equipment Must understand and follow company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents Must be able to order all supplies and equipment required by Nursing staff with approval of management Must be able to work closely with vendors to negotiate best pricing for supplies and equipment Must be able to store inventory in orderly, neat fashion to prevent expiration and contamination Must be able to perform weekly and monthly cycle counts to ensure inventory levels are maintained Must be able to receive, label, stock, and distribute supplies from vendors Must be able to serve as facility apparel coordinator (orders and returns of uniforms) Must be able to stay current with vendor lists and buying groups Must practice dependable, regular attendance Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment Must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and move intermittently during working hours Must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist, lift 10 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 40 lbs, and push/pull 40 lbs
